It is the end of an era here at Animal Care Hospital, ACH. As many of you already know, the hospital founder and Clinical Director, John O'Mahony, has decided to retire and move on to new adventures with Cookie and his family.
John started practice at ACH in May 1995. Career highlights include the expansion of the premises (twice) and the veterinary team (numerous times!) and being the national winner of the Veterinary Pet Carer of the Year Award in 2002.
A few words from John "In May 1995, I opened the doors of the Animal Care Hospital for the first time. In May 2022, 27 years later, I have decided it is time to hang up the stethoscope and leave ACH in the very capable hands of the current veterinary team.
During this time, ACH has grown from a one vet-one nurse team to the strong twelve-person one that it is today. This transformation could not have been possible without the support of our loyal clients, many of whom have become good friends, and for that, I thank you most sincerely.
I am also very grateful to our friendly neighbours, the Douglas Village community and local businesses for their help and camaraderie throughout the years, I do plan to keep in touch!
A huge thanks is due to the past and present employees of ACH, some of you first came as trainees and became/returned as fully qualified members of the team, others came anew. However, you all have become colleagues and friends. It has been an eventful time, with plenty of laughs and good times along the way. I will miss working with you all and meeting our loyal patients and their owners of course!
It is hugely satisfying to leave such a talented, caring and welcoming team to run ACH.
Finally, to my wife (my cornerstone), children, and extended family for their continuous backing and patience, I am all yours now!"
We would like to congratulate Orlaith O’ Mahony on her new role as Clinical Director of the Animal Care Hospital. Our clients and patients are in good hands.
